1 Chronicles 23:5

4,000 musicians were fully employed to:

  • Minister to God with THANKSGIVING & PRAISE
  • Minister to God on INSTRUMENTS and with SONG
  • ‘Make petition’

They were to stand every morning & evening to thank and praise the Lord. 

– 1 Chronicles 23:30

 

Holy Priesthood

Stepping into the holy priesthood that the church is called to become (thankful people who have received what they could not earn).

  • 1 Peter 2:9

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 

  • Revelation 5:9-10

‘With your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”

Hosting His Presence
Creating space for people to meet with God and experience His presence.

 

Beholding Him

Real transformation comes in God’s presence. We become like what we behold. It’s incredible to watch people be transformed by God’s presence.

  • 2 Corinthians 3:18

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

Abiding in him

In His presence, we taste His goodness and receive our spiritual nourishment. The more we are in His presence, the more we crave Him.

  • 1 Peter 2:2-3

“Like newborn babies crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that God is good.”

  • John 15:5
    “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
  • 1 John 4:19
    “We love because he first loved us.”

We know love only comes from God, not us, but if we abide in His love, we can then love those around us and produce good fruit.

Psalm 98:5:

“Make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn— shout for joy before the LORD, the King.”

Psalm 150:3-5: 

 

“Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!”

Ephesians 5:19:

“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.”

Colossians 3:16:

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”

NEHEMIAH’S REFORM

Nehemiah 13

“I learned that the portions assigned to the Levites had not been given to them, and that all the Levites had gone back to their own fields. So I rebuked the officials and asked them, “Why is the house of God neglected?” Then I called them together and stationed them at their posts.”

  • While Nehemiah wasn’t in Jerusalem, they allowed a foreigner to stay in the room that was to keep the portions (tithes) for the Levites.
  • The Levites had not been given their portions, and so the musicians and workers had gone back to their own fields to work so they could eat.

  • Nehemiah rebuked them and asked, “Why is the house of God neglected?”. Then he put the Levites back at their posts to serve the Lord.
